HELLO FELLOW GOLDEN SCOTS!!!!!! Judge John M. Marshall, President of the Class

Dear Survivors of the HPHS Class of 1961

By now you have received the formal invitation and the registration letters.  The 200 of you who are reading this who  have been faithful attendees at our previous reunions and have already responded one way or the other don't need to read  any further.  This is really for the rest of the class who, for whatever reason, have not come in the past or are wavering about coming this time.  PLEASE STOP WAVERING!!!!!  All of the excuses for not coming (no one liked me then, why should they now, I'm too fat, I 'm too thin, I look old, only successful snobs ever show up, I didn't like anyone then, and I probably won't now) some of which you may have thought were true fifty years ago, simply don't apply now.    The one great truth of this or any reunion is that it is a time to reaffirm the simple fact that we share a common experience that shaped a part, if not all, of our lives since then.  Put another way, whatever we were going to prove when we were 18 has  either been proven or simply doesn't matter any more.  We are who we have become, and what we are started then with those who will be with you at the reunion.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR PLAN TO COME!!!!

You will never regret coming, but, I assure you, you will regret that you did not, because you will have passed up a great opportunity to be yourself with those who know who you really are and want to be with you.

 See you at the 50th!

 Johnny Mac

Of course, that means that not only have we survived long enough to read this, but that we did indeed survive  Highland Park High School.  Both of those interpretations of the word "survivor" are good news for each of us.  Even better is that we are approaching the middle of the summertime before our 50th Reunion!!!!!
